SUMMARY
- Israel Adesanya posted a recent update about his physique on Instagram.
- Fans were surprised to see Adesanya bulked up and thought that he is preparing for a UFC 300 fight at light heavyweight against Alex Pereira.
Israel Adesanya posted an image of his recent physique on Instagram and got the fans talking. The Last Stylebender is looking much more muscular than how he looks in his Middleweight bouts. Many believe he is moving up to Light Heavyweight to take on UFC Light Heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.
Adesanya and Pereira are rivals beyond the UFC. Both fighters are former kickboxers who fought in GLORY Kickboxing. Pereira triumphed over Adesanya twice during their kickboxing days.
In the UFC, Adesanya and Pereira have fought twice as well. They first met each other at UFC 281 when Adesanya was the UFC Middleweight champion. Pereira defeated the Nigerian-Kiwi fighter to win the title. However, in his first defense, which was a rematch against Adeanya at UFC 287, Pereira lost to him for the first time in his professional career and lost the title as well.
The Brazilian moved up to Light Heavyweight after the loss and won the title in just his second match in the division. After the win, Pereira called out Adesanya and asked him to come to Light Heavyweight for a title bout. He said, “Adesanya, come to daddy.”
Adesanya’s latest picture made fans believe that he has taken up the challenge. One fan wrote, “Please be Izzy vs Pereira for UFC 300”
Another fan wrote, “Looking about 205.”
Another fan asked, “Is he facing Pereira at LHW?”
Following his loss to Sean Strickland, Adesanya announced he would take a break from fighting until 2027. Many fans did not believe him at the time and they were right. He recently announced he would be back soon.
UFC veteran Chael Sonnen believes Israel Adesanya will fight at UFC 300 but not at light heavyweight
Chael Sonnen took to his YouTube channel to claim that Adesanya will be back at the milestone PPV UFC 300. However, the UFC legend believes it will be for the UFC Middleweight title, not the Light Heavyweight.
Sonnen claimed, “The reason that Strickland and Du Plessis was rushed to the marketplace is because the winner is going to take on Izzy at UFC 300.”

UFC Middleweight champion Strickland will take on Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297. Adesanya, according to Sonnen, will take on the winner of the fight. Sonnen admitted that Adesanya has not publicly committed to it yet but he has come close. UFC CEO Dana White has announced a few fights for UFC 300, however, a major chunk of the card is yet to be revealed. It will be interesting to see if Adesanya makes the list and in which division.
