The Damian Lillard trade drama keeps going on and on. Fans were eager to see the Portland Trail Blazers player traded once the initial news of his preferences broke. After all, no fandom wants a trade controversy to ruin their season. Since he made his request, about a month has gone without any development on either side. Crazy rumors and hypotheses are beginning to surface as to why a trade hasn’t happened yet.
Damian Lillard has made it abundantly obvious that the Miami Heat are where he wants to play. Dwyane Wade, a Heat legend, soon advised the star point guard as an aftermath.
Dwyane Wade, a former star player for the Miami Heat, is trending in the media ahead of his upcoming Hall of Fame induction next month. He recently had a
with Inside The Celtics’ Bobby Krivitsky. The Heat’s pursuit of Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard was one of the subjects discussed. The three-time NBA champion was questioned about Lillard’s request for a trade as well as his thoughts on sticking with one team.
Wade stated that he is okay with Lillard doing whatever is best for him. “It’s his career, and he has, you have a vision for how you want it to go, and you try to accomplish that,” Wade said. “And Dame has been trying to accomplish his career the way that he wants to see it go. And he has been wanting to see it go in Portland. That’s why he’s there. And so that’s why he’s been there.”
Damian Lillard has played for the Portland Trail Blazers for his entire 11-year career and now his trade seems almost inevitable.
Dwayne Wade cited LeBron James while addressing Damian Lillard’s trade situation
Wade continued by using LeBron James and Kevin Garnett as examples. Before transferring their skills elsewhere and earning a title, both players played for a lengthy amount of time with the teams that had originally picked them. Wade, however, is aware of Lillard’s reasoning for wanting to join the Heat. According to D-Wade, LeBron James and Kevin Garnett each did the same thing at one point in their careers.
Wade added, “Kevin Garnett did this, this guy did this, LeBron went and did this. Dame has to do what Dame wants to do and understand that he gets one of these careers. You get one shot at this. And how does he want to see it go, how does he want to see these next.”
In 2010, LeBron James became an integral part of the Miami Heat, where he went on to win two NBA Championships. Lillard will aim for a similar outcome if he is traded to the Heat. The Heat had, after all, advanced to the NBA Finals in two of the previous four seasons.
However, a deal for Lillard between the Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers hasn’t been reached yet. The Blazers’ reluctance to trade their franchise player without receiving something in return is reasonable.
