There are a lot of speculations that WWE might be the next stop for Andrade, and the fans could finally see him back in the company. Moreover, the fans can see him reunited with his 14-time champion wife, Charlotte Flair. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Andrade might return to WWE.
He stated, “I do know that those in WWE expect him to return. I also know those close to him who say that he may very well go back but is also open to stay if Tony Khan makes a better offer than WWE.”
All the controversies surrounding this will be answered in the upcoming year, as Andrade’s contract negotiations will begin in 2024. He also wants to expand his wrestling abilities and perform in NJPW shortly. Only time will tell where Andrade lands as his contract nears its expiration date.
Why did Andrade El Idolo leave WWE in 2021?
Andrade El Idolo was seen as the upcoming rising star in the WWE and was treated as one during his reign in NXT. He arrived at WWE in 2015 and was hyped up a lot by the company. After giving some exceptional performances, he won the NXT Championship in 2017. Upon his main roster debut, he had quite some moments and a notable rivalry with Rey Mysterio.
His last televised match in WWE was against Angel Garza, which ended in a losing effort for the former NXT Champion. He then asked for his release, which wasn’t granted by the company, but he was later released from the company in March 2021. He was released because he wasn’t heavily used by the company, and he didn’t want to waste his talent where it wasn’t being used.
After leaving the company in 2021, Andrade moved over to AEW and has been doing extremely well in the promotion. He has been given some top-tier matches after his debut in the Tony Khan-led promotion as well as his AAA wrestling debut. Fans are eager to see him return to WWE and have high hopes for the AEW Star in 2024.
