Amelie Mauresmo is an icon of tennis, known for her swashbuckling style and for winning two Grand Slams. The former player is now carrying her legacy forward as the director of the French Open. Amelie has etched her name in history, but she is in the news this time for her legal battle against her ex-wife.
Mauresmo has always kept her private life under wraps, despite it being the subject of speculation for many. The former star likes to maintain discretion, which is why the news of her falling out with her ex-wife shocked the community. She accused Marie-Benedicte Hurel of harassment, since she wanted a divorce last year. Her life has taken a drastic turn since then, and it has come to a head at long last.
Amelie began dating Hurel in 2014, and after being together for seven years, they decided to tie the knot in 2021. Their marriage did not last long, as the former player wanted to go her separate way in February 2023. She finally filed for divorce in June, and her life has not been the same since.

As the divorce proceedings were underway, Hurel started harassing and blackmailing Mauresmo. This prompted Amelie to take action against her former wife. She confessed that she was “going through hell.”
Mauresmo alleged that Marie-Benedicte sent her insulting text messages and blackmailed her too. It took such a toll on Amelie, that she was prescribed to be incapacitated to work for ten days.
Amelie Mauresmo went through a harrowing ordeal, but it seems the case has finally concluded. She will want to put this entire episode behind her as soon as possible.
What happened to the Amelie Mauresmo case?
The French Open Director can finally breathe a sigh of relief. It was a difficult few months for her, as Marie-Benedicte put her through the wringer emotionally.
Amelie lives in Anglet in the Basque country. However, she sometimes had to seek refuge in her current partner’s house, who is a surfer from Biarritz.

Hurel’s lawyers tried to dismiss these allegations. “As they lived under the same roof, the text messages do not constitute harassment at all. It’s a discussion, certainly lively,” said Mr. Thierry Sagardoytho (via Le Parisien).
Amelie Mauresmo has reason to celebrate now. Her harassment case was held up in court, and Maria-Benedicte has been sentenced to four months in prison. Hurel must also pay Mauresmo for the damage she caused.
