The former two-time WBC super middleweight champion David ‘El Bandera Roja’ Benavidez will finally lock horns with the former IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant this weekend. With stakes higher than ever, the duo will get to settle their long-simmering bad blood in a 12-round boxing match. This bout will have eyeballs from the world outside of combat sports as well.
However, what makes this matchup so intriguing is that both competitors know what a championship tastes like. Fans have been waiting to mark their calendars for this particular matchup because of the fighters’ contrasting styles. Benavidez and Caleb are in their prime and are more hungry now than ever, which checks all the boxes to instantly become a fan favorite.

Benavidez is as young as the number of wins he has acquired in his career so far, 26, out of which 23 have been finishes. He is coming off a third-round KO of David Lemieux for the vacant WBC interim super middleweight title in May 2022. Caleb on the other hand recently bounced back from his Canelo loss to KO Anthony Dirrell in October 2022.
For fans who are unaware, their legitimate rivalry has been dated all the way back to at least 5 years ago. The trash talk and involvement of family members have made this matchup more interesting than other bouts in recent memory. The highly anticipated bout will take place at the world-famous MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fans can also catch the vent live on SHOWTIME PPV.
How much will David Benavidez and Caleb Plant make?
The WBC interim super middleweight title is on the line and everyone’s talking about the Benavidez-Plant grudge match. Despite the bout being years in the making, fans and supporters are ecstatic that the showdown is happening whilst each man is in their prime.
One can never be sure of the exact amount a boxer is making right before his bout, let alone one of this magnitude. As per reports, both Americans have agreed to a 50-50 contract. This will lead to Benavidez and Plant bagging $3-4 million each. However, it is still not disclosed whether the said amount includes a cut of the Pay-per-view or not.

It is worth mentioning that Caleb earned a whopping $10 million against Canelo Alvarez. But his purse this time around isn’t even close because of the comparatively less star power of Benavidez. The 26-year-old is coming in as a fan favorite against Plant while riding on a 26-fight win streak. However, Caleb can never be counted out, especially after his last rebound performance.
