UFC 295 is almost here and fans are pretty excited about it. One of the most exciting matches is the only women’s fight in the main card, Jessica Andrade vs. Mackenzie Dern. Furthermore, the latter is known for her top-notch submission game. Recently, in a clip from the UFC 295 promotion commentator Laura Sanko demonstrated a technique used by Dern in a match against Montana De La Rosa.
Mackenzie Dern is a submission wizard who has won 7 of her fights via submission. However, Dern’s victory in her second-ever MMA bout was a special won via an omoplata and rear naked choke. In the clip, Sanko shows the exact technique used by Dern on one of the UFC employees.

“She’s (Mackenzie Dern)able to angle out and start to get this omoplata but the cool thing is how she finished it,” said Sanko while breaking down the submission hold. “She left it kinda shallow and as she starts to sit through, Montana tries to cartwheel out of it but she prevents it and is able to finish it,” said Laura.
However, while she was applying the hold on her colleague, he forgot to tap and possibly popped his shoulder. Furthermore, you can hear a concerned Daniel Cormier watching as the employee got injured. It was a great demonstration from Laura and hopefully, the crew member is fine.

This is a very good initiative taken by the UFC to honor the military veterans. However, many fans were expecting a proper event dedicated to the veterans like ‘Fight for the Troops.‘ The UFC used to have a special fight night series dedicated to the military called, Fight for the Troops.
However, the series has not been revived since Fight for the Troops 3 in 2013. While we do not have a full-fledged, Fight for the Troops revival, this is a great initiative by the company.
