SUMMARY
- Detroit Pistons active in the trade market with barely any chances to make the 2023–24 playoffs.
- The Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Dallas Mavericks have shown interest in Isaiah Stewart.
The Detroit Pistons are standing at No. 15 in the Eastern Conference and barely stand any chances to make the 2023–24 playoffs. Taking into account ground reality, the Pistons are in dire need of deconstructing the team and starting from ground zero to make a stronger team. The franchise is reportedly active in the trade market with Isaiah Stewart, forward/center, as the player has received enough traction from many teams.
He exhibits an upper hand regarding his rebounding defense and ability to stretch the floor. The first-round pick in the 16th overall draft was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers and then traded to the Pistons. Currently, the 6-foot-eight is running on an average of 10.2 points and 6.8 rebounds. However, last season, his performance was slightly better, as he was averaging 11.3 points and 8.1 rebounds.

While the player knows how to take advantage of his height and frame, many teams have shown interest in the player. The Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Dallas Mavericks are supposedly the three landing spots for Stewart. As per James L. Edwards III of The Athletic, “The Dallas Mavericks have shown “great interest” in Isaiah Stewart.”
However, the fans are divided on whether the franchise should trade in the player or not. Since the tweet by MFFL Nation surfaced, the comment section has been bombarded with responses to the question, “What would you trade to acquire the big man?”
How will Isaiah Thomas fit the Dallas Mavericks roster?
It’s worth noting that Luka Doncic is walking through the competition this season, and placing Stewart Loangside as the champ would be a good move. The Slovenian point guard can help him create a shot so that Stewart can knock down his shots. However, to complete the trade, they might also want Bojan Bogdanovic. As far as the trade-in is concerned, all seems okay.
It’s what the Mavericks have to sacrifice to make the trade a reality. The Mavs might have to put Grant Williams, Richuan Holmes, and Maxi Kleber up for trades to clear out the roster a bit. However, fans don’t seem to like Grant William’s trade-off as suitable. While Stewart is earning $5.2 million this year, the $15 million for the next four years as per his contract doesn’t seem to be too much for the team.
Along with that, the team option in the last year of his contract lends out another option for the franchise to have control over him. Although the player is not an elite defender and can’t handle the defense all by himself, a little help from the Mavs players could lay out great dividends for the team.
