WWE and UFC had been tough rivals in giving the audience the best action-filled showdown. With the WWE-UFC merger, things are all the more heated as the fans go ahead to compare the stars of the two divisions with more spirits. A recent comparison has been drawn between the UFC’s Jon Jones and the WWE’s Cody Rhodes.
Recently, Jon Jones fell prey to a pectoral tear, which has put him off the cards for almost eight months. With his title match against Stipe Miocic hardly a few weeks away, fans are disappointed to receive the injury update from Dana White. The UFC President revealed that the champion is officially out of UFC 295.

This incident led the fans to draw a comparison to Cody Rhodes, who too tore his pectoral muscle back in 2022. Despite going through a lot of pain, he decided to show up at WWE Hell In A Cell and put up a great match against Seth Rollins. Not only did he show up, but he also came out as the better man in the main event match.
Fans couldn’t control themselves and took to social media to express their emotions. “Look I’m not saying Jon Jones is a pussy, I’m just saying that when Cody Rhodes tore his pec, he still showed up for his Hell in a Cell match,” wrote one fan. “Cody Rhodes is tougher than Jon Jones,” wrote another.
Fans even demanded Jon Jones “to pull off that Cody Rhodes performance.” While many considered it to be the end of his UFC run for Jon Jones, a fan claimed that it is not. Citing the examples of Cody Rhodes and John Cena, he believed that it was “not the end of the world” for Jones.
What pushed Cody Rhodes to go for the match against Seth Rollins?
Cody Rhodes’ torn pectoral muscle was gruesome to watch. The right side of his chest, covered in shades of red and black, revealed the extent of the injury that the American Nightmare had suffered. With his PLE main event match against Seth Rollins, he was sceptical as to whether he should go inside the cage.
It was at this moment that his wife came to his rescue. Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Brandi Rhodes recalled the entire conversation about Cody’s pec injury. Consulting the doctor and talking from her experience, Brandi suggested that if nothing can go worse and he should continue with the match.
“Well if nothing really worse can come of the situation if you feel okay with it, then I’m giving my blessing too,” she said. Brandi was also thoughtful of the fans who were excited to see the much-awaited match. “Those people are counting on you. People bought tickets for the show, to see the main event with Cody and Seth. So yeah, if you can do it, do it,” she said.

As a result, Cody Rhodes stepped up in the ring in his glistening blue and white attire. Feuding amidst a great audience, despite his nasty injury, Cody was able to continue showing off his skills for almost 24 minutes. Eventually, he pinned down Seth Rollins, raising his standards all the more in the eyes of the fans.
