The ATP Tour is known for its hectic scheduling of events throughout the season. Players are busy the whole time and only get a few weeks to rest. With newer events entering each season, there seems to be no rest while on the tour. It is rare to see tennis players on long vacations or at concerts. Fans have even criticized players such as Casper Ruud for attending Weeknd concerts.
Ruud had attended the Weeknd concert two weeks before Wimbledon. The fans were not happy, as his performance was already disappointing. Addressing the negative comments, Ruud spoke about players having a life outside the court. He said, “If you criticize me for going to a The Weeknd concert, then you have a very boring life. It’s super good to go to concerts.” Ruud is a die-hard fan of the Weeknd.
The Norwegian player wished he could attend more concerts this season. Ruud mentioned that he had attended the Weeknd concert three times this year. He is currently playing at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown in London, where his fellow players join him. Ruud last played at the Paris Masters in October, losing in the third round to Francisco Cerundolo.
Casper Ruud reveals his goal in the 2024 season
The 2024 ATP tour is set to begin in a few weeks. It seems to be another packed calendar for the players, as the Paris Olympics will also be an essential addition to the season. The Olympics will be held at Roland Garros, as the players will be familiar with the courts by then. The clay court favorites have set their sights on a medal in Paris.
Ruud has won nine clay court titles so far and has twice reached the final of the French Open. He is one of the top contenders for a medal at the Paris Olympics. Ruud had lost to Rafael Nadal in straight sets at the 2022 French Open. This year, he lost to Novak Djokovic in a match that lasted more than three hours. Ruud showed the potential of winning the big titles in both finals at the French Open.

The 24-year-old played 60 matches this year and recorded 37 wins. He will be eager to win a medal for Norway during the Olympics next year. Ruud can win a medal if he keeps the same form after the French Open. He likes the surface and has been at his best on clay. For now, Ruud will look forward to the hardcourts in London and maybe a few more Weeknd concerts next season.
