Bryan Danielson headed the ring at the 2023 edition of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door with a bang. The match, set between Kazuchika Okada and Bryan Danielson, was a 60-minute-long match that left the audience’s jaw dropped. Despite winning the match, the event was probably not the best one for ‘The American Dragon’.
Speaking to the journalists at the Forbidden Door’s post-show media scrum, Bryan was talking about his upcoming appearance on Wednesday. He said, “I don’t think that’s gonna happen because, in this match specifically, we think I fractured my right forearm, with about ten minutes left to go.” The former WWE star also revealed that the injury would sideline him from in-ring action for about six to eight weeks.
Kazuchika Okada and Bryan Danielson put up a great in-ring fight. The match was indeed worth watching and the duo performed with utmost perfection. However, with 10 minutes still to go, Okada landed an elbow drop on Bryan who didn’t have his elbow in a safe spot. This little act of carelessness has put the upcoming weeks at AEW in question for ‘The American Dragon’.
Why didn’t Bryan Danielson stop after he realized his injury?
Bryan Danielson revealed in the post-match scrum that he has always wanted to fight Kazuchika Okada. After battling 50 minutes into the match, the former WWE legend met with an accidental injury. While he had the option to give in or continue, he chose the latter. He recalled all the best of his matches from his career and concluded that they come from the time when he decided to continue.

“Sometimes when you do things that are really hard, you feel more accomplished doing them,” said Brayan Danielson. ‘The American Dragon’ went with his instinct at his recent match too and does not regret it. “Some of my favorite moments in my career are times when I’ve chosen to go, and tonight, I chose to go, and I don’t regret it at all,” he spoke at the post-match presentation.

There haven’t been any further updates on his injury as of now. Under the care and treatment of the excellent medical facility at AEW, Danielson could recover just as he did after his match against MJF at Revolution when he tore a labrum and had some compressed vertebrae.
