Throughout his incredible career, the R1 Pick 27 has collected a long list of awards and recognitions. Some of these include being named to the ALL-NBA twice, winning the NBA Player of the Week title five times, and much more. Notably, when he won the Most Improved Player of the Year in 2021, he paid tribute to his Cameroonian nationality father, Tchamo Siakam who died in a car accident in 2014.
He said, “I’m just blessed to be able to make his dream become a reality and having the opportunity to keep it alive.” This heartfelt tribute speaks volumes about the kind of relationship Pascal shared with his father and the level of respect he has for him. In addition to this, he wears jersey number 43 which represents his family’s love and support. The digit ‘4’ is for the number of men in his family and ‘3’ is for the number of women.
The late Tchamo Siakam was a mayor of Makenene in Cameroon
Pascal Siakam’s father Tchamo Siakam lived a very respectful life as the mayor of Makenene in Cameroon. He loved basketball and wanted at least one of his sons to play in the NBA. Sadly, he could not see Pascal make his dream true. The Pacers star has expressed the absence of his father that he feels every single day. In a post-game interview, he said, “People always tell me ‘You know he is proud of you’, I kind of wanted to hear it from him.”
As per various reports, Tchamo also worked for a local transit company. He has sacrificed a lot for his family as detailed by Pascal himself on various occasions. In addition to this, he was a strong believer that the seminary provided both great academics and the foundation for being a good man. Something that he pursued all of his sons to go to.
Furthermore, before debuting in the league, Pascal played college-level basketball at New Mexico State University. He played for two seasons during which he had an average score of 16.6 points, 9.7 total rebounds, and 1.5 assists. When he was a freshman, he got to know his father died and he wasn’t able to attend his funeral. From that day, Pascal started playing for his father and for his dream of having a son in the NBA.
