Growing up, Jamal Murray was all about basketball. His father, Roger Murray took the responsibility to help his son be the best player he possibly could. Jamal played ball for hours as a three-year-old. His progress was pretty quick, as young Murray played against high school hoopers at the age of 10.
Jamal was a prodigy, playing professionally in Canada, he received an offer from the University of Kentucky. In 2015, Jamal started off his college basketball career, which only lasted a season.
The 19-year-old was drafted by the Denver Nuggets in the 2016 draft. His incredible journey to the NBA came with pure hard work. Not too long into his career, Murray was a great addition to the Nuggets, as the team’s improvement process had accelerated like never before.
Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic were the face of the Denver Nuggets. Together, the duo led the team to the playoffs. They also led the Nuggets to the NBA title in 2023, beating the Miami Heat in the finals. Looking at Murray’s road to becoming one of the best guards in the league, a younger Murray is also in the works.

Jamal’s younger brother, Lamar Murray is also a hooper. Lamar currently resides in Canada and is following in his brother’s footsteps. His father, Roger supports and helps him through all the work. Lamar is currently attending Orangeville Prep Basketball Academy. Young Murray is in high school and still has a long way to go. To make it to the NBA, Lamar will have to prove himself in his country first.
Before a D1 offer, Lamar has to participate professionally in Canada. Being the top prospect in Canada, Lamar’s game will definitely catch the scouts’ eyes. Jamal on the other hand does support his younger brother, as he wishes for him to make it to the big stage one day.
Lamar’s age is unknown, though the gap between him and Jamal seems to be around 10 years. While Jamal is still quite young, being 26, there’s a great chance that he would play against or with his brother in the future, if he does make it out of the competition.
There are multiple players in the NBA who have their siblings play under the same association. Fans would love to see Jamal play alongside his brother in the near future. It would be interesting to see whether Lamar will have anything in common with his brother, considering he will go pro soon.
