Flau’jae Johnson is part of the newly crowned NCAA champions with the LSU Tigers. With her teammate Angel Reese and Iowa Hawkeyes’ Caitlin Clark taking the spotlight, she is often looked over. However, she played a crucial role in her team’s road to victory at the NCAA tournament. A lesser-known fact about her is that she is the daughter of the late rapper Jason Johnson or also known as “Camoflauge.”
Johnson hails from the same place as her late father that is Savannah, Georgia. The 19-year-old is going places with her basketball talents and is making a name for herself. Aside from playing basketball, she is also a rapper, like her father did back in the late 90s. Her father was a popular rapper in Georgia and released 3 albums that were listed as No. 24 on Billboard’s top independent album charts.

Johnson lost her father before she was even born. Camouflage was killed after getting shot outside a recording studio. However, he was declared dead at a local hospital. Nonetheless, Johnson is making a name for herself on the basketball court and her father’s passion for becoming a rapper. Flau’jae retweeted a recent tweet, that had a photo of her and her dad from his days. “Turned my pain into passion and made it happen,” Johnson mentioned.
The 19-year-old is making her father proud after accomplishing the NCAA title. She is only a freshman at LSU and is averaging 11.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists. She is becoming somewhat of a role model for student-athletes of future generations, by balancing her studies and her passion.
14-year-old Flau’jae Johnson got a golden buzzer at America’s Got Talent
Flau’jae made her father proud back in 2018 on the 13th season of America’s Got Talent. At the time Johnson was just a 14-year-old and in high school14-Year-Old. However, she is leading a double life, on and off the court. When she is not playing basketball she is learning her trade in rapping. She rapped an original song, “Guns Down,” at the audition, which saw her go to the next rounds.
The 14-year-old rapper took her chance in episode 10, where she rapped another original song, “I Can’t Lose.” This performance from her saw judge, Chris Hardwick push the golden buzzer for the young rapper. She turned out to be the first rapper to get a Golden Buzzer on AGT and received a standing ovation. Unfortunately for her, her trip was cut short, when she got eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Her latest release in January 2023, titled “Big 4,” was released. LSU Tigers then went on to win their first-ever NCAA championship, and her song was played after they won the title. Flau’jae is making her proud and paving a way for herself.
