The Denver Nuggets have finally reached their promised land, as they won their first-ever title. Led by the duo of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic, the team has gone through quite a lot of struggles to get to this point.
After two rough offseasons, the Nuggets finally managed to make it to the Finals and win it all. They met the Lakers for a Conference Finals rematch, whom the Nuggets swept. Going up against the Miami Heat, Denver had no problem as they sealed the series in five games.
Murray and Jokic, making the case for one of the greatest duos of all time, had a great season. Jokic put up MVP numbers yet again, whereas Jamal came back from his ACL injury that kept him off the court for more than a year. The 2022-23 season had quite a few upsets, though it was finally time for Denver to shine. Their championship was also celebrated in style.
Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray go for a splash to celebrate the win
Following the sound of the final buzzer, champagne started pouring into the locker room. On the other hand, Murray and Jokic went for a splash in the pool. Jamal, with a champagne in his hand, pulled Jokic into the pool, as Nikola tried to push him.
It’s definitely a night of celebration for the Nuggets fans, winning their first title in 47 years. Fans on Twitter reacted to their celebration. Fans had nothing but appreciation for the duo saying, “Yet another assist for Jokic.”

Jamal was filled with emotions during the trophy presentation, having to come back from a serious injury and being off the court for a long while. Jokic on the other hand, was well deserving of the Finals MVP award, putting up ridiculous numbers on the stat sheet every night. Denver had its own story of building a championship roster, and it all started in 2014 when they drafted Jokic as the 41st overall pick.
Murray and Jokic, still young, have a lot left in the tank and hopefully, a few more championships along the way. Jamal has developed into an elite-level guard. Whereas Jokic, already with two MVP titles under his name continues to develop his craft.
The Nuggets will try to repeat next season, as their status as title contenders isn’t questionable anymore. It will be interesting to see what moves Denver will make this offseason to increase their chances of repeating a chip in the following season.
