The Dallas Mavericks were up against the Portland Trail Blazers on December 8, 2023, at Moda Center. Although the offensive champions swept the game with 125-112 against the Trail Blazers, one tragic incident involving Kyrie Irving might put the shooting and ball handling on the backseat.
The Mavericks have seemed to be a more composed and cohesive unit since the regular season started. The teammates spent the entire offseason and training camp together to get in sync with the rhythm and gameplay of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic as the two leading men. However, little did the franchise know that the player that they were rooting for would leave the hardwood mid-game, that too in a wheelchair.

Kyrie Irving suffered an injury to his right foot in the final minutes of the second quarter after Dwight Powell landed on his foot. Powell was attempting to recover a rebound, but the 32-year-old player not only lost the ball but collided with Irving, making a rough landing on his right leg.
Leaving the building in a wheelchair, the player will get an MRI scan done before any confirmed information hits the internet. What’s astonishing is that ‘Uncle Drew’ showcased team spirit and tried to make a mark even after sustaining the injury scare.
Tim Hardaway Jr. relieved Kyrie Irving’s presence despite her foot injury
Kyrie Irving just got back from a ‘tweak’ in his foot after sustaining an injury in the first quarter of the game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Tim Hardaway Jr. also missed some games owing to back spasms, while ‘Uncle Drew’ made it back to the hardwood on December 6, 2023, against the Utah Jazz.
However, even after sustaining back-to-back injuries, the player scored two baskets before exiting the game tonight. Hardaway Jr. revealed how the franchise was relieved to see Irving waiting for his teammates. Jr. said, “He was right there at the door waiting for us when we came in. He was good, he was good. Great spirits. Just happy he’s okay.”

Since there is not enough information available regarding the injury updates, the fans will have to rely on what head coach Jason Kidd believes. The head coach has confirmed that the star guard is still in the arena; however, chances seem bleak as far as traveling is concerned for the player.
