Germany is playing outstandingly well in the FIBA World Cup, which is not why they are in the news. What is the drama? The furious discussion between Dennis Schroder and coach Gordon Herbert during the break of the Slovenia vs. Germany game at the FIBA World Cup was unfortunate. The Raptors defender ignored Herbert’s attempts to have him sit down. Tensions erupted with 4:03 remaining in the first quarter of the nail-biting FIBA World Cup 2023 match against Slovenia.
Coach is out a line, that’s a grown ass man

Germany found themselves behind 11-16. At first, Schroder spoke to Daniel Theis privately while appearing to ignore what coach Gordon Herbert said during a timeout. Later, the Canadian-Finnish coach grabbed Schroder to urge him to sit down, but the Toronto Raptors star resisted, and they continued to argue. A video of the incident is making the rounds on social media.

Like everything else, this incident has also split fans in two. “Coach is out a line, that’s a grown ass man,” one of the fans wrote in support of Schoder. Another user on X commented, “And people wonder why Dennis is always having to find a new team…” hinting at Dennis’s bad reputation as a team hopper.
Despite this change of events, Schroder and his teammates came onto the floor after the timeout and won the game for Germany.
Gordon Herbert claims the incident Dennis Schroder will be dealt with internally
Schroder sat out the break, but he eventually came back onto the floor and put up a strong effort with 24 points (4/4 2PT, 4/7 3PT, 4/5 FT), 10 assists, and 2 rebounds. When questioned about what transpired between him and Herbert following the game, the Toronto Raptors guard focused on what happened between him and Theis and not the coach.
“Me and Daniel go way back, I have known him since I was 12 or 13. We had those kinds of moments when we were young as well, but it always helped us to elevate our game,” he said.

During the press conference, Herbert was also questioned about the encounter. The 64-year-old discussed Schroder’s interaction with Theis in the same manner as Schroder. Herbert answered, “I subbed him out,” as his response to the scenario.
“I subbed Daniel and Dennis out.” When asked how it would all play out, he responded, “It will be handled internally.” It’s possible that they were discussing their issues and formulating plans to win the game throughout their encounter. Thanks to Dennis Schroder’s extraordinary talents, Germany is destroying its opponents with an unblemished record.
