Tyre Nichols’ death has caused quite a stir in the world. He passed away at the age of just 29 years old. Many have questioned the system and have brought the Black Lives Matter campaign to light once again. For those who don’t know, Tyre Nichols was an employee of FedEx in Memphis, Tennessee. He was also an up-and-coming photographer as well.
In his own words, “Photography helps me look at the world in a more creative way. It expresses me in ways I cannot write down for people.” The world has been hurting since his tragic death as many continue to question police brutality from time to time. The city of Memphis has come together during his horrific time to pay their respects for Tyre. Along with that, the NBA world has been doing the same as well.
Kyrie Irving joins the NBA world to pay respects to Tyre Nichols
Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving has also joined the rest of the NBA community to mourn the loss of Nichols. He took to Twitter to write, “Rest Peacefully King,” in a reply to a compilation of Tyre’s pleasant memories.

In the clip, we can see Tyre’s brother, Jamal Dupree, and mother, Rowvaughn Wells, sharing their experiences and comments about Nichols. His brother even said that Tyre could be given the nickname “Cheeseburger,” because how Tyre always had a smile on his face. Nichols was a father to a 4-year-old son, which makes his death even more heartbreaking when we realize that he had a little person to live for.

The Memphis Grizzlies and head coach Taylor Jenkins also spoke out on Nichols’ death recently. Jenkins even described it as a “senseless loss of life” and sent his condolences to Tyre’s family.

Apart from that, the NBA also made a statement on Nichols’ death. They wrote, “While there have been steps toward accountability in this instance, the NBA family remains committed to partnering with advocates, policymakers, and law enforcement to work toward solutions to the issues we continue to face.” The world continues to battle against police brutality and our thoughts go to the Nichols and Wells family, along with his loved and close ones.
