NBA referee, Eric Lewis has been trending lately on social media. For years, the league’s process of selecting officials has been quite attentive and vigilant. There have been instants when certain referees were charged with rigging games and favoring one of the teams.
While it’s not common to see such incidents in today’s NBA, one of the referees was investigated for having a burner account on Twitter. Eric Lewis who has been an official for almost a decade was put on the list for investigation.
It all started after a Twitter user exposed this burner account which seemed to defend Lewis’ officiating. The burner account even replied to the accusation stating that Eric’s brother, Mark Lewis, was using the account. No one really fell for the reply, as fans thought that Eric was blaming his brother for the account. NBA players reacted to the situation after the league ran an investigation.
Is Eric Lewis secretly supporting the Celtics?
Patrick is one of the most competitive players on the floor. Beverley has received around 50 technicals in his career and received 14 of them in the 2018-19 season. Having altercations with referees and talking trash to the opponents has made Beverley the center of attention during a game. During the regular season, Patrick brought the camera itself to show Eric the uncalled foul on LeBron James.
He was assessed a technical foul the very next second. This was one of the moments that reflected on both Beverley and Lewis. When the league called for an investigation, Pat Bev went over social media, reminding fans of the same incident.

Lewis is believed to be a Celtics fan, as his officiating during Boston games has made it quite clear. His family is also a Celtics fan, which solidifies the fact that Lewis might be involved in some sort of partiality when officiating a Celtics game.
The league is yet to take action on this situation, as it is still not clear whether it’s truly Eric himself who’s been using this random Twitter account. Rigging games or favoring a team is something the league would take strict action against.
Considering the policies to be more specific, if the rumor comes out to be true, Lewis might not be seen officiating in an NBA game. He’s been a referee for 18 years, and so far Eric wasn’t looked at as a suspicious official. With the league yet to give its final statement on this situation, Eric would not be officiating any games till the investigation is completed.
