Things do not appear to be going too well for OG Anunoby. As many NBA fans might be aware, Anunoby spent his career so far with the Toronto Raptors but was traded to the New York Knicks several weeks ago. After adding him onto their roster in return for RJ Barrett and Emanuel Quickley, the Knicks emerged as one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference.
At the moment, New York currently holds an impressive record of 33 wins and 19 losses, making them a force to be reckoned with come playoff time. However, there appears to be a small wedge in their plans.
Recent reports have emerged indicating that OG Anunoby is dealing with an injury and could miss several games for the Knicks. That said, fans will certainly want to know more about his current status and expected return to the court.
OG Anunoby has undergone surgery to remove a loose bone fragment in his elbow
OG has played in 14 games so far this season as a member of the New York Knicks. In those games, he has averaged 15.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. As these numbers indicate, Anunoby is clearly the third-best player on the Knicks behind Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle. Additionally, an argument could be made that he is one of their best defenders.
Unfortunately for Knicks fans, OG sustained an elbow injury and recently underwent surgery to remove a bone fragment from his right elbow. Taking into consideration the fact that he is right-handed and heavily relies on his elbow to shoot, there is no denying that this poses a problem.

Since the Knicks are currently in a good position, they will not be expected to fall greatly in terms of record and standing. However, questions surrounding OG’s return to the court must be addressed.
When will OG return to the Knicks?
According to the reports, OG is expected to miss a minimum of 3 weeks and will have to undergo rehabilitation before slowly resuming basketball activities. That means he could be out for the month of February or even longer. Since he is quite an impactful player on both ends of the court, the Knicks will likely feel this loss in their upcoming games.
