Klay Thompson, a player for the Golden State Warriors, is known for his astounding shooting competencies on the basketball court, but he recently demonstrated his golf prowess as well. At one point during their round of golf, Thompson hammered a 72-yard shot that hindered a man in his tracks.
Thompson’s ball surfaced out of nowhere and dropped directly in front of the man as he stood on the green and got ready to putt. The man stumbled in reverse from a stupor. Though the man was intrigued by Thompson and his fellow men’s reactions, he was additionally taken aback by Thompson’s shot.

“That was incredible,” the man exclaimed, awestruck. “I’ve never seen anything like it.” (h/t via Twitter)
Long-range shots are not entirely novel for Thompson. He fired a 60-foot shot against the Houston Rockets in 2016. It was undoubtedly one of the longest shots ever shot in NBA history. Thompson obviously has an affinity for shooting, whether it is on the golf course or the basketball court. He is an excellent marksman and perennially fun to witness.
Kansas City Chiefs duo gets the better of Stephen Curry
In the eighth edition of Capital One’s The Match, a golf exhibition tournament, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson competed alongside one another side. NFL luminaries Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs squared off opposing the two NBA players.
Curry and Thompson were the undisputed favorite athletes going into the tournament. Curry is a self-identified golf enthusiast who has even played on the Korn Ferry Tour, and Thompson was a golfer in high school. On the other facet, Mahomes and Kelce were playing in The Match for the first time.
Each player hit a tee shot during the two sides’ 12-hole scramble match, and the winning team subsequently chose which shot to play from. Curry and Thompson started off resilient, winning the first two holes to go up by two. The following four holes were seized by Mahomes and Kelce, who came back and gained a 2-up lead of their own.
Over the following numerous holes, the two teams alternated, holding the lead, and with just two holes remaining, the match was knotted at six all. Curry performed a simple birdie on the 11th hole with a dazzling approach ball that landed just inches from the hole. The Warriors subsequently went one up after Thompson’s putt was successful in going in.
Curry’s drive found the fairway on the last hole, and Thompson’s immaculate approach shot fell barely 10 feet from the hole. Throughout the competition, Curry made a number of imperative strokes, particularly a hole-in-one on the tenth hole. Thompson performed brilliantly as well, carding a 3-under 69. The ninth edition of the competition, which is slated for July 2024, will be where they attempt to defend their title.
