All Miami Heat fans want at this very second, is to open their phone and finally get a report that says “Damian Lillard has been traded to the Miami Heat.” Lillard’s trade request has been dragged out to such an extent that at this point most fans expect Lillard to stay with the Trail Blazers for the foreseeable future.
It wouldn’t be unreasonable to say that Portland Trail Blazers GM Joe Cronin is probably the most hated man in the city of Miami right now. Heat fans have him to thank for the delay on the Damian Lillard deal.

It seems as if Cronin is doing everything in his power to prevent Dame from going to the Heat. At this point, he may have reached out to every other team in the league to ask for their package for Lillard, but the league and Dame Time himself are adamant, he only wants to go to the Miami Heat.
There have been countless news outlets reporting on the Trail Blazers and their intentions with Lillard but recently we’ve received concrete information from a very unlikely source, Goran Dragic.
Will Goran Dragic return to the Miami Heat?
Goran Dragic had a very uneventful 2022-2023 season. After being waived by the Chicago Bulls in February of 2023, Dragic signed a contract with the Milwaukee Bucks in March. However, unfortunately, Dragic failed to receive any play time despite his historically excellent point-guard play.
Dragic is known for being a dependable and consistent facilitator that can easily go and get you ten assists a night. He is most well known for his tenure with the Phoenix Suns and the Miami Heat. Dragic played on the Heat for a total of six seasons, his longest with one franchise.
Dragic is definitely in the twilight years of his career but he still has one or 2 chances left to win a championship. One way to go about that would be rejoining the Miami Heat after their proposed addition of Damian Lillard. Dragic believes that the floor will only open to other players after the Lillard deal.
Goran Dragic :
The main desire is to return to Miami. Now everyone is waiting for Damian Lillard to decide where he will go next.
… When this is known, the movement for the other players will open. We are in talks with a few clubs, but much more will be known in a few days… pic.twitter.com/wUFncaZALR— Vice City Alerts (@ViceCityAlerts) July 14, 2023
He’s been quoted saying, “The main desire is to return to Miami. Now everyone is waiting for Damian Lillard to decide where he will go next. … When this is known, the movement for the other players will open. We are in talks with a few clubs, but much more will be known in a few days when the news will be released. You will see.”
His words are encouraging as he states we will have much more information in a few days and some certain news is going to be released. Goran seems optimistic and there is nothing NBA fans would like to see more than the ‘Dragon’ back in his den.
