Dallas Mavericks fans are concerned about their star player Luka Doncic. Doncic has been playing at an elite level for the majority of this season and was even a part of the MVP race initially. However, his play has undoubtedly taken a toll on his body and he is currently sidelined and away from the action.
Although the Mavs still have Kyrie Irving after their sudden move before the trade deadline, it is highly unlikely for Dallas to remain competitive in a stacked Western Conference with Luka out of the lineup. With that being said, one must certainly want to know more about his injury status and when he is expected to return for the Dallas Mavericks.
What injury does Luka Doncic have?
As already mentioned, the lengthy season has put a significant amount of stress on Luka’s physical health. After all, he plays big minutes and facilitates the offense of his team while having the opposition’s best defender guard him. However, it is not like an excellent defense can always contain Doncic. This season, he is averaging better numbers when compared to his previous years in the league.
Luka is averaging an impressive 33 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8 assists this season. His size and talent allow him to be an excellent all-rounder who is proficient in all spheres of basketball. Despite his play this season, the Mavs aren’t doing quite well. Especially in his absence from the team. They currently hold a record of 34 wins and 34 losses, giving them the 8th seed in the West.

According to the injury reports, Doncic is suffering from a left thigh injury that he obtained during a game against the New Orleans Pelicans. In fact, he even described the pain to be bad enough that he couldn’t even run.
His injury clearly impacted his play during that game as he finished the night with 15 points, 8 assists, and 3 rebounds while playing only 28 minutes of the game. Not having him healthy led to the Mavs losing with a final score of 113-106.

Perhaps a thigh injury doesn’t sound very serious when compared to an ACL or Achilles tear. Nonetheless, Luka has missed two games for Dallas so far and there is no imminent timetable for his return. He was listed out for their recent game against the Grizzlies and is currently on a day-to-day status. We hope to see him make a speedy return to his team in order to help them salvage this season.
