LeBron James is a perfect representation of the word success. The NBA has had several elite-level basketball players graze its courts but none compare to the King. His longevity and dominance are what most athletes yearn for but only a few are blessed with them. James has built himself a massive empire on social media as well, often keeping his fans updated on his life at home, behind the scenes of his NBA career, and business matters.
On Twitter, the Los Angeles Lakers All-Star has 52.7 million followers. LeBron is quite active there and uses it well to raise his opinions to the public. However, since Elon Musk‘s purchase of Twitter, the newly crowned CEO has been making a lot of changes. This includes a minimum $8 fee to be paid every month for the verification checkmark. There were a lot of people who stood against the idea, including LeBron James.
Welp guess my blue ✔️ will be gone soon cause if you know me I ain’t paying the 5. 🤷🏾♂️

James once took to Twitter saying, “Welp guess my blue checkmark will be gone soon cause if you know me I ain’t paying the 5.” As expected, fans of the Twitterverse proceeded to troll him. The four-time NBA Champion became a billionaire last year, one of three athletes in the world to do so. People criticized him for being extremely cheap. However, these comments won’t make LeBron stop being money conscious.
Fans troll LeBron James after Elon Musk hints that he pays for the King’s Twitter verification
Recently, a handful of celebrities were given the verification checkmark even without paying for it. One of them happened to be LeBron James. A verified Twitter account made the announcement to which Musk replied by saying, “I’m paying for a few personally.” This was most certainly a blatant jab taken at the ones who haven’t paid for their verification, including LeBron. Here are a few fan reactions.

A fan even tweeted, “LeLiar has been bailed out this time.” The iconic “LeLiar” memes have become relevant once again as King James has been accused of lying on multiple occasions in the past.

LeBron getting special treatment from the officials AGAIN

One fan commented, “LeLiar has been bailed out this time.” Another fan said, “LeBron getting special treatment from the officials AGAIN.” Even though the King often gets called out for his choices, he has admitted to being a cautious spender. While being interviewed by Rachel Nichols on ESPN, James admitted to being the, “Cheapest guy in the NBA.”
“I’m not turning on data roaming. I’m not buying no apps. I still got Pandora with commercials,” LeBron said. Nichols reminded the King that he was rich to which he responded, “I’m not paying for it. I’m not paying.” But it is due to his awareness of spending that he is as rich as he is today. James has invested most of his money in business organizations and businesses in and out of the sports world.
