LeBron James is undoubtedly one of the most popular NBA athletes of all time. Anything he does, we can be certain that it will be on the internet for millions to see within seconds. Perhaps that is what one has to go through when he’s of LeBron’s caliber. With that said, reports were circulating on the internet about LeBron’s suspension.
A Twitter account posted a video of King James in a Ferrari and claimed that the Los Angeles Lakers suspended James for speeding. The user even alleged that the 4x NBA champ was caught speeding at 130mph. This stirred plenty of rumors on the internet, as fans all around the world wondered if the biggest NBA superstar of our generation was suspended.

The truth is that these rumors are false and were only spread with the intention of attracting clicks from NBA fans. However, there is some truth to it.
Has LeBron James been convicted of speeding in the past?
For those who don’t know, the NBA icon has been caught speeding in the past. In December 2007, Interstate 71 south of Cleveland’s State Highway Patrol gave James a ticket for speeding at approximately 3. a.m. ESPN reports that the player was driving at 101 mph that night.
LeBron also reportedly claimed that he was returning home after a game against the New Orleans Hornets (now Charlotte Hornets). Ultimately, he pleaded guilty to these charges and the court ordered LeBron to pay $259 as a fine.
LeBron was playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers when this incident took place. The Cavs went to the NBA Finals that year but were dismantled by the San Antonio Spurs in just four games. LeBron later mentioned to the NBA world that he would never forget what the Spurs did to the Cavs that year. Perhaps that year’s finals loss fueled the fire in him, helping him win 4 NBA titles after that.
As far as fans are concerned about his status, the Lakers have not suspended LeBron for speeding. The Twitter post that has taken the internet by storm is fake and does not contain any base for the “facts” mentioned.
