It is not a fun feeling being a Los Angeles Lakers fan at the moment. From NBA Champions to now being the 9th seed in the west losing day in and day out to teams worse than them. No fan has that much patience with a franchise with such high expectations. And now LeBron James is getting the horrible treatment of an insufferable fan, again.
The Los Angeles Lakers have a 27-32 record, barely making them a mid-table team. Russell Westbrook has struggled so much this that on NBA 2k22 he is currently rated only 79.
Why was LeBron James booed?
Against the New Orleans Pelicans, the Los Angeles Lakers lost 123-95. The Lakers might have the excuse that we were missing AD but the Pelicans played without Zion too. Both Ingram and Westbrook have been struggling this season and LeBron is better than CJ. So why couldn’t the Lakers still win?
6 players for the Pelicans scored in double digits tonight, while for the Lakers it was just 3. LA shot awfully, just 41% from the field and 20% from the 3 as a team. Russell Westbrook put up brick after brick with 15 shot attempts and just 5 makes.
Yet it was LeBron James that was booed. It was because the Lakers turned over the ball 23 times. That’s 23 possessions wasted by the Lakers. LeBron and Westbrook combined had 14 turnovers. For context, the entire Pelicans team has a combined of 15 turnovers.
The flow of the game was pathetic and the ball was stagnant. After a turnover in the 3rd quarter when the Lakers were down almost 20, LeBron heard one of the loudest boos in his time at Los Angeles, so far.
This wasn’t just a one-off but a result of the utter rubbish performances put on by Los Angeles so far. With their current form and Anthony Davis being out for a while, the boo’s at the Crypto Arena will only get louder.
Will this make the Laker’s decision to bow up the team in the offseason easier? or will they go against the fans and keep their belief in LeBron.
