The combination of All-Stars Kyrie Irving and LeBron James has been one of the finest on the court, with the duo helping Cleveland Cavaliers win the NBA title in 2016, but like any pair, they have had their ups and downs both on and off the field.
Their fans have wished to see them recreate the same magic on the court, and this hope may be granted soon, since Kyrie was spotted conversing with LeBron’s long-time friend and agent, Rich Paul, during a timeout between the Lakers and the Grizzlies.
Will Kyrie Irving join the Los Angeles Lakers this year?
Much has been written in the media about the duo’s possible reunion. Tristan Thompson, a member of the 2016 Cavs championship team, spoke on the Draymond Green Show to discuss a move that many in the NBA still desire.
“It was almost like a match made in heaven… it’s not over yet”

He spoke about how the combo was an unstoppable force for the Cavaliers during their championship run and how he wished they could reunite. When they shared the floor, he described the unit as a “match made in heaven” on the show. He also stated that “the two bring each other’s best on the floor” and that he wants to see them both on the same ship soon.
There is no doubt that LeBron wants Kyrie to join the Gold and Purple brand, as when Irving rejected the proposal at the Barclays Centre earlier this year, James offered a cryptic clue about his reaction to the news by tweeting the eyes emoji alongside the crown emoji, implying that the “King” is watching everything.

Since the pair separated, Irving has yet to make it back to the Finals, joining Celtics and Nets but parted ways controversially from both sides while James captured a fourth title in the 2020 NBA Bubble alongside Anthony Davis for the Lakers. James and Irving together had a prolific record in the 2016 season with both of them averaging 29.7 & 27.1 points per game in the finals and thrashing the defenses of the Warriors.
It will be intriguing to see whether the Lakers sign Irving to offer James and Davis an ideal teammate. Let us know what you think about all three coming together and whether the Lakers can win another title with his addition to the team.
