Jeanie Buss has high expectations of LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers for the upcoming NBA season. As many NBA fans should be aware, Jeanie is the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers and has been its managerial face for several years now.
Jeanie and Rob Pelinka played an instrumental role in turning the Los Angeles Lakers into a championship contender and reaped the benefits when LeBron James and Anthony Davis managed to lead the team to an NBA championship in 2020.
While all of that is well and good, Jeanie recently revealed a desire that even her father Jerry Buss shared. With that being said, let us take a closer look and find out more about her expectations of the Los Angeles Lakers in the near future.
Jeanie Buss wants LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers to beat the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals
The younger generation of NBA fans will struggle to remember the iconic rivalry that their franchise had with the Boston Celtics in the past. From Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird and Kobe Bryant vs. Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo, the rivalry between these two franchises has entertained NBA fans for several decades.

At the moment, both the Lakers and Celtics are tied for having the most championships among any team in the league with 17 each. Jeanie recently shared that her father had a goal for the Lakers to hold their own against the Celtics and how LeBron James has a chance to make that dream a reality.
“Right now LeBron and Steph – you can’t have them in the finals since they are in the same conference. If you think about it, Celtics/Lakers are both at 17 and if we do play them, whoever wins would get number 18. When my dad bought the team in 1979, that was his goal – make the Lakers hold their place against the Celtics.”

Although having the Lakers defeat the Celtics and take the lead in terms of NBA titles would undoubtedly make Jeanie and the late Jerry Buss very proud, fans are questioning if this expectation of LeBron is too high considering that he is entering Year 21 and clearly in the backend of his career.
In any case, we look forward to finding out how the Lakers perform next season and whether they will be able to live up to the high expectations that Jeanie has for them.
