Jamal Murray had missed two postseason runs with the Denver Nuggets. When things were looking bright for Denver, Murray went down with a gruesome injury. It all started in 2019 when the Nuggets fought the Blazers in the second round.
Murray was an unstoppable scorer and one could see his potential moving forward. Denver had a great postseason run the following year, with their primary scorer Murray averaging 26 points on 50% shooting from the field.
His game was only improving and the Nuggets were closing in on a championship run. Though in the 2020-21 season, Murray would suffer an ACL tear and would not return. Out for more than a year, Jamal missed the entirety of the 2021-22 season. Meanwhile, Denver faced exits in the postseasons, playing without their star guard. Murray returned to action after 539 days, and in the end, it was not but fruitful.
What happened after Jamal Murray’s injury?
Following Murray’s injury, Jamal was worried about his status on the team. It was to a point where Murray asked coach Malone whether the team would trade him, terming himself as ‘damaged goods’. A steady and perfect recovery brought Jamal back into action, and he was already ballin’ like he used to.
Murray averaged 26 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists throughout the championship run. Jamal’s game has improved significantly, as the 26-year-old performs decently in the regular season, and shows the best of him n the playoffs.
From thinking he was “damaged goods” to becoming an NBA champion…

Now an NBA champ, Murray has solidified his position among the top guards as well as scorers in the league. Murray and Jokic have also made the case of one of the greatest duos of all time.
Jamal’s scoring combined with Nikola’s playmaking ability was a nightmare even for the star-stacked Phoenix Suns. Denver has made some great decisions along the way, building a team around Murray and Jokic, which was indeed a successful job done by the front office.
Coming back from an ACL injury is not an easy return. Most of the players face a downfall in their careers recovering from the same injury. Derrick Rose was one of the highly anticipated players who would’ve reached stardom if it wasn’t for his ACL tear.
Rose was never the same after returning from his injury. To see Jamal play at the highest level after recovering from an ACL injury is nothing short of dedication toward the main goal. Murray finally has a championship under his name at the age of 26, as there is more to come from the Nugget.
