Things appear to be getting worse for Monty Williams and the Detroit Pistons with each passing day. As many NBA fans might be aware, Monty used to be the head coach for the Phoenix Suns and took a head coaching job with the Detroit Pistons this NBA offseason.
Since Monty was able to coach the Phoenix Suns all the way to the NBA Finals, many assumed that he would greatly aid the development of a young and inexperienced Detroit Pistons squad. However, the complete opposite has occurred considering that the Pistons are currently on a 20-game losing streak.
Taking into consideration that losing even 5 or 10 games in a row is very embarrassing, one can only imagine the state of the Pistons as they look to prevent a 21-game losing streak. Monty Williams recently discussed what needed to be done in order for the Pistons to win. However, his words have been belittled by NBA fans.
Fans mock Monty Williams for his recent statements regarding the Detroit Pistons
Since Monty Williams recently became the highest-paid coach in the league, there is no denying that this 20-game losing streak might just be putting his coaching career in jeopardy. Although one might assume that he learned something essential in this process, Williams’ words don’t seem to hold much value among fans.
“I think we’re starting to figure out that we can score if we space the floor properly. I’m learning how to use certain guys on the team.”

Considering that the modern NBA is heavily focused on the three-point line, it is nothing short of common sense to space the floor well with the players available. Fans who understood that Monty said nothing of value soon mocked him on social media, “It only took 20 losses in a row for Monty to figure out that… …spacing is important?”

There is no getting around the fact that the Detroit Pistons head coach did nothing more than state the obvious. However, this raises graver questions regarding the Pisons’ state of affairs.
Can Williams coach the Pistons to a win and break the losing streak?
The Detroit Pistons will have to lose 9 more games in a row in order to make NBA history for being the team with the longest losing streak. Out of respect to the players and coaching, it would be fair to say that the Pistons will find a way to catch one team off guard and steal a win. After all, the team has matches against the Utah Jazz and Brooklyn Nets coming up.

Since neither of those teams has a significant amount of star power or experience, it is more than possible for the Pistons to get a win. However, nothing is given and everything is earned. All the teams across the league will not hold back against the Pistons out of sympathy. They will most certainly have to earn a coveted win and break their losing streak.
