Brittney Griner has several reasons to be viewed as inspirational and gifted. Since the start of her career, the veteran athlete has always had to deal with a lot of personal issues. Yet, she always manages to keep her head held high in times of struggle. This has dually benefitted her productivity on the court as well. Griner stands as an inspiration to females and members of her community.
The 32-year-old entered the professional sports environment back in 2013. She was selected as the No.1 overall pick by the Phoenix Mercury and her career has only taken off since then. She holds a special place for herself in the WNBA’s history books. The 2014 WNBA Champion has had nine All-Star appearances, six All-WNBA selections, two scoring titles, and four international gold medals.
Besides the WNBA, she has worked overseas in China and Russia. She last competed for the UMMC Ekaterinburg team in Russia. During one of her visits to the country in 2022, she was arrested at Sheremetyevo International Airport, Moscow, for carrying an illegal substance in her luggage.
She was detained for 10 months before the US Administration finally reached an agreement with Russia. Griner was swapped for convicted arms dealer Viktor Bout.
Brittney Griner is one of seven WNBA players to have dunked on the court
Brittney Griner made her return to the court against the Los Angeles Sparks on May 20, 2023. Before making her comeback to the hardwood floor, Griner appeared in front of the media to answer a few questions. However, her voice is what caught fans off guard as it was deep. Several people have since accused her of lying about her gender. Some have claimed that she is a transgender male. This isn’t something that hasn’t happened in the past either, as it was what she had to deal as a child.
After hearing Brittney Griner speak, there is no doubt in my mind that he is a MAN who joined the WNBA because it is easier, much like Lia Thomas did with swimming.
We should have known because he’s the only WNBA player who can dunk a basketball.

One Twitter fan recently reposted a video of the interview saying, “After hearing Brittney Griner speak, there is no doubt in my mind that he is a MAN who joined the WNBA because it is easier, much like Lia Thomas did with swimming. We should have known because he’s the only WNBA player who can dunk a basketball.” However, Griner isn’t the only player that has performed dunks in the WNBA.
Besides herself, Candace Parker, Glory Johnson, Jonquel Jones, Sylvia Fowles, Elena Delle Donne, Liz Cambage, Michelle Snow, Awak Kuier, and Tina Charles have dunked before. Brittney Griner holds the record for most dunks in WNBA history. This is because of Griner’s lengthy wingspan and height. She stands at 6″9 feet, while the average height of a WNBA player hovers just over six feet.
