Mark Cuban has become a renowned name in the NBA despite not playing a single game. He is the (now former) owner of the Dallas Mavericks and has taken the team to greater heights. Recently, Cuban got approval from the league for the sale of a controlling interest in the Mavericks to the Adelson and Dumont families. This was undeniably a big move and has also led Cuban to make a wholesome gesture to his employees.
Furthermore, Cuban boasts an impressive net worth of $6.2 billion. He has been a successful businessman for decades now. Interestingly, Cuban and Todd Wagner founded Broadcast.com in 1995 and sold it for $5.7 billion to Yahoo just four years later. Apart from being the former owner of the Mavericks, he also co-founded Cost Plus Drugs which was launched in January 2022.

Notably, he bought the Mavericks back in 2000 for $285 million and built it to a value of $4.5 billion. Making it earn the seventh spot in the list of most valuable NBA franchises. Even though Cuban sold the majority stakes of the Mavericks, he is still reportedly responsible for basketball operations. Recently, ESPN’s Tim MacMahon shared a screenshot of a mail that Cuban sent to the employees of the Mavericks.
As per their LinkedIn profile, the Mavericks have 51-200 employees. In the mail, Cuban revealed that he and the Adelson and Dumont families will give around $35 million in bonuses to them. He cited the reason, “As a thank you for all your hard work making the Mavs an amazing organization.” In addition to this, he disclosed that they will receive their bonuses soon and that he is excited to continue the work. “Let’s go Mavs!”, he concluded.
Fans react to Mark Cuban paying around $35 million in bonuses
This wholesome $35 million gesture has gone viral and fans are reacting to it. One of them commented, “Cuban been the goat owner.” Along similar lines, others talked about how he is a great owner and makes sure that the employees share in the growth of the team. It is undeniable that Cuban has maintained the image of being the best owner because of his gestures, charity practices, volunteering, etc.
Furthermore, some of the fans had a field day as they drew comparisons to the usual office celebration. One said, “This>>office pizza parties for hitting sales goals.” Whereas, another sarcastically tweeted something similar, “How rude. No pizza party…?.” Cuban is setting the bar high from the age-old tradition of having a pizza party for celebrations.
It will be thrilling to witness how the Mavericks will grow after being in the hands of the Adelson and Dumont families. Fans took a breath of relief when they got to know that Cuban still owns a few of the stakes and will still be responsible for the basketball operations.
