SUMMARY
- Chris Paul fractured his hand during the Warriors vs. Pistons matchup.
- The Warriors stated that he will need to surgery to fix his fractured hand.
The Golden State Warriors have been struck with another tragedy as Chris Paul has injured himself. They have not been moving at a steady pace lately and a lot of criticism is being directed towards the coaching staff. GSW has already been dealing with a series of unfortunate issues and the point guard’s exit may affect them even further. Before diving into Paul’s injury, there are a few issues that need to be addressed.
Besides the 12x All-Star, the rest of the team has been extremely inconsistent with their contributions. Overall, only Stephen Curry has been delivering consistent performances while averaging 27.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 45.6% from the field and leading the league in three-pointers made. Klay Thompson has been having his worst season in terms of shooting but there is still hope of him getting back into form.
Another issue the Warriors have been dealing with is Draymond Green’s reckless behavior. He has missed a significant amount of games while the Warriors rely on him for defense. Right now, they rank 10th in the Western Conference with a 17-16 record. With Chris Paul out of the lineup, the Warriors could lose out on some extra leadership.
Chris Paul will require surgery to fix his fractured left hand
During the Warriors’ recent matchup against the Detroit Pistons, Chris Paul got involved in a risky play. Midway through the third quarter, Paul missed a deep-range shot after which he hurled at the ball for the rebound. However, he collided with the Pistons’ Jade Ivy, immediately holding his left hand in pain. Paul was removed from rotation and taken straight into the locker room for examination.

“I believe. I saw him holding it and instantly was worried… It’s going to be tough [without him]. Chris is an all-time great. He’s fit right into our team and made life so much easier… he’s kind of captained that second unit, which has been a strong suit for us. We’re going to miss him in both lineups,” said coach Steve Kerr on witnessing Paul injure himself.
The Warriors revealed that the 38-year-old will require surgery next week to fix his fractured left hand. And Paul is likely to miss multiple weeks before making a return to the court. The good news is that Green may be coming back to the team very soon. However, the team hasn’t given CP3 a return timetable as yet.
