SUMMARY
- Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic appear to have a good relationship.
- Jokic claimed that Luka can join the Nuggets if things go south with the Mavericks.
Nikola Jokic recently made an interesting statement when asked about the chances of playing alongside Luka Doncic in the future. As NBA fans should know, Jokic is the current reigning defending Finals MVP and is considered by many to be one of the best players in the league. He managed to defeat Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals to bring the Denver Nuggets their first championship in franchise history.
Although Luka Doncic has yet to add a championship or Finals appearance to his NBA resume, claiming that Doncic is also one of the best players in the NBA at the moment would be a fair assessment given the level he has been performing at this season.
Nikola Jokic wants Luka Doncic to join the Denver Nuggets
Those who were able to watch the 2024 NBA All-Star game will be aware that Jokic and Doncic were quite jovial and enjoying themselves together throughout the event. Since both of them are from Europe as opposed to the United States, it certainly makes sense that they have a sense of camaraderie.
When asked if he would consider playing with Luka in the future, the Joker revealed that the decision ultimately lay with Luka Doncic and his situation with the Mavericks. Nikola claimed that Luka could come and join the Denver Nuggets if he grew fed up with his current dynamics with the Dallas Mavericks, “If Luka gets pis*ed off in Dallas, he can come to Denver.”

While having Luka Doncic in Denver and playing alongside Jokic could certainly improve the team’s chances of winning another NBA championship, fans are left debating which NBA star should leave his team.
Will Luka leave Kyrie Irving and Dallas to take up the Joker’s offer?
At the moment, the Dallas Mavericks hold a record of 32 wins and 23 losses. After making some slight changes to their roster, the Mavs have been playing better after the NBA trade deadline and are currently on a 6 game-winning streak.
Although the Nuggets do have a better record, Luka has no clear reason to find fault with the Mavs and force his way to another team. It is most likely that he is going to remain loyal to the Mavs for the foreseeable future and continue to share the backcourt with Kyrie Irving.
