SUMMARY
- Draymond Green was slapped with an indefinite suspension after he exercised his antics on the player
- Previously, Draymond Green was ejected and reprimanded with a five-game suspension.
Draymond Green, power forward and center of the Golden State Warriors stands at No. 2 on the list of most career ejections, just next to Rasheed Wallace, who had a tally of 29. Draymond Green was booted out with a double technical when he took a spin and clocked Sun’s center in the face. The four-time NBA champion was slapped with an indefinite suspension after he exercised his antics on the player on December 12, 2023.
Jusuf Nurkić received a punch from Green while facing off against the Warriors. In the third quarter, Green seemed to resort to his age-old tactics to hamper the opponents when he used his right arm while grappling for post-position with Nurkic of the Phoenix Suns. Although Green pleaded his act to be unintentional, Joe Dumars, NBA executive vice president and head of basketball operations, reprimanded the star forward for “a repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts”.

This is Green’s third ejection this season, while the previous one just handed him a five-game suspension. Draymond Green committed yet another violent altercation against the Minnesota Timberwolves center last month. ‘DrayMagic’ wrapped his right arm around Rudy Gobert, choking the player, and dragged him for about nine seconds on the hardwood. Just two minutes into the game on November 14, 2023, Green was ejected and reprimanded with a five-game suspension.
There have been many incidents like these where the player has displayed unnecessary aggressive behavior, and the Warriors have had to suffer. While the team might not be affected by his faulty antics, head coach Steve Kerr has expressed his concern for a long time now.
Is Steve Kerr exhausted with Draymond Green’s antics?
As an NBA fan, it’s imperative for you to know that technical fouls can lead to free throws for the opposing team. Since ‘DrayMagic’ has had a history of such technicals and subsequent ejections, the result is not suitable for the Warriors. A five-game suspension and now an at least three-weak suspension have without doubt put his 12-year NBA career on stake. Not only the fans but also the head coach, Steve Kerr, have developed an aversion to his antics.
Kerr has voiced his frustration more often than not whenever the player has been involved in unsportsmanlike activities. Following his recent scrimmage with Nurkic, Kerr said, “Frankly it’s tiring, it’s exhausting for our team to have to go through all this… Part of the exhaustion is just worrying about him and making sure he’s okay. You throw all that together, it’s a lot for a team to have to handle”.
Not only that, after Green tried his hand at choking Gobert, Kerr made a bold statement. He said, “Yes, he definitely did go too far.” These are just some incidents to name; however, the grudge between the two dates back to the 2018-19 season, when Kerr was reported saying, “I’m so (bleeping) tired of Draymond,” in an exchange with Mike Brown, assistant coach of the Warriors.
