- The Heat have gone on a 0-4 run since Terry Rozier made his debut.
- Rozier believes that losing in the Hornets' DNA while the Heat cannot accept defeat.
After having an unsuccessful off-season attempt to revamp their roster, the Miami Heat were able to make some adjustments over the last couple of days. They managed to acquire Terry Rozier from the Charlotte Hornets, a much-needed upgrade from the lineup they initially had. Since getting acquired, Rozier has gotten to know a little bit about the Heat Culture. And based on his latest appearance in front of the media, he seemed quite surprised.
It is no secret that the Heat have been struggling lately despite having a strong run during December and the start of January. Rozier learned a thing or two about the Heat’s frustrations while losing games. He said, “It’s the total opposite. When you’re in Charlotte, you’re kind of used to losing. It’s kind of your DNA… Over here, it’s the total opposite. No one wants to lose. No one is fine with it.”

The Hornets have been a losing franchise for a while now. And despite having multiple roster changes over the years, things have never seemed to have changed in the slightest. This season, the Hornets continue their losing record ranking 13th in the Eastern Conference. They hold a record of 10-35 which brings them to a .222 pct. On the other hand, the Heat have maintained a .500+ record.
The Heat have gone 0-4 since Terry Rozier made his debut
Terry Rozier made his debut against the Memphis Grizzlies on January 24, 2024, just over a week ago. Since then, Rozier has averaged only 11.7 points per game. Throughout the season, he has been averaging 21.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game on 45.3% shooting from the field. Additionally, he has shot just over 35% from deep while making between 4 to 7 attempts per game.
Head Coach Erik Spoelstra has been expressing his wishes to have Rozier do what he does best. To that, Rozier replied, “I’m a competitor but I got respect for those guys in the locker room. So I’ve never been told this many times to play my game or how to play my game. I’ve got so much respect for those guys in there that I don’t want to just come in and take them pull-up threes.”

Terry Rozier claims that he is still trying to find his role on the roster with the help of his coaches. Recently, the newly acquired Heat point guard scored 21 points against the Phoenix Suns. However, the game still resulted in a loss for the Heat. Miami has lost all four games since Rozier made his debut. The good part about Rozier’s presence is that he is more aggressive than Kyle Lowry, who is now in Charlotte.
