Things seem to be getting out of hand after LeBron James hinted at a potential retirement. In fact, reports have even begun spreading across social media that a team in the Chinese Basketball Association called the Guangdong Southen Tigers has shown interest in King James.
Since what becomes viral on the internet is usually believed to be the truth, one would assume that LeBron is really planning to leave the NBA and go to China. However, is this report accurate in the first place? With that being said, let us take a closer look at and analyze this situation.
How much does LeBron James make per year through his Los Angeles Lakers contract?
Let us first clarify one thing, this report by “Ballsack Sports” is clearly inaccurate, if the account name alone didn’t make things clear to fans. Therefore, this is just a way for haters to disrespect and mock the All-Time leading scorer for contemplating retirement after being swept by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. Nonetheless, James is on a two-year contract worth around $97 million. He made around $47 million this year with the Lakers
In order to trick a gullible audience, an official language was used by the account indicating that the Guangdong Tigers had offered LeBron a contract “The CBA’s Guangdong Tigers have reportedly offered LeBron James a 3 year contract worth “upwards to” $800 million. James is still under contract with LA until 2024.”

Although most fans would have figured out that this news was fake, some still embraced it by joking that LeBron and Bronny could play together for the Shangai Sharks and that this was a perfect fit or a match made in heaven.

Ballsack Sports was clearly trying to get attention and managed to do so by spreading this news. It might interest fans to know that they are also subtly hinting at LeBron’s connection and allegiance to China via Nike. After all, no normal player could be worth enough to make 800 million by playing in China for just 3 years.

In any case, questioning his connections to China and joking that joining the Guangdong Tigers is the only way to play with his son are some of the reactions of fans when they saw this post. Unfortunately, we can never really tell for certain whether they knew that the source of this report was clearly illegitimate.
