SUMMARY
- A parody account claimed that Klay Thompson signed a new contract with the Golden State Warriors.
- The 4x NBA champion's future with the The Dubs has been in doubt in the last few months.
Klay Thompson has established himself as one of the best players in the Golden State Warriors’ history. Along with Steph Curry, Klay played a pivotal role in The Dubs’ championships in recent years.
Plagued with injuries since his third championship ring, Klay has shown huge signs of slowing down in recent years. Even in the Warriors’ 2022 title win, Klay didn’t play that big of a role compared to Jordan Poole, who is now on the Wizards.
Recently, Klay’s future with the Warriors has been in major doubt in recent times. Klay’s inconsistency and age are two of the main reasons for that. At 34 years old, the American shows that he is sometimes a shadow of his former self. The Warriors have not offered Klay a new contract until now, and his current contract runs out at the end of the 2023-24 NBA season. He will enter free agency later this year.

A parody X account has claimed that the Warriors guard has signed a 5-year max contract extension with the Warriors, worth $303.7 million. This has made waves on social media in recent hours, but it is confirmed to be fake. The X account has a history of spreading false information to gain some attention on the platform.
Klay Thompson recently got the sweetest revenge after being benched by Steve Kerr
Klay Thompson was benched for the first time since 2012. Steve Kerr explained his controversial decision by claiming that it was just to have some firepower off the bench. Thompson got the best possible revenge and made 35 points and 6 rebounds on the night despite playing just 28 minutes. It surely looks like moving down to the bench was a motivating factor for Klay to perform better.
After the game, Klay mentioned, “Me and Steve [Kerr] had a good talk about it. You can do two things: you can pout or you can go out there and respond. I thought I did the latter very well tonight. Especially you know turnovers, missed a few boxouts though, more importantly, I realized I’m going to play a ton of minutes.” The Warriors’ head coach has mentioned that Klay will continue to come off the bench, and it will be interesting to see what he can do.
Will Klay leave the Golden State Warriors?
Before the trade deadline in February 2024, Klay addressed the rumors about his departure from the Warriors. He said, “I don’t partake in NBA discourse on the internet. I think that’s such a waste of energy.”

Reporters also asked if his intention was to remain in San Francisco, to which he agreed. The player is still without a new contract, and there is undoubtedly some tension over his future.
