Has Anthony Davis been the mastermind behind significant trades that the Los Angeles Lakers have made? As most NBA fans should be aware, AD has been one of the franchise’s cornerstones ever since joining the Los Angeles Lakers and winning an NBA title in 2020.
Although there is no denying the incredible value and impact that Anthony Davis brings to the Lakers, he also comes with his fair share of risks. Many fans will know that he has earned a reputation for himself as a very injury-prone player over the past few years.
While there could be many reasons for AD’s injuries, recent reports have revealed that he has been attempting to resolve some of them by convincing the Lakers to make some changes to their roster. With that being said, let us take a better look and find out more about the ongoing situation.
Why does Anthony Davis want to change his playing position for the Los Angeles Lakers?
Lakers fans will know that their team has been making quite a lot of changes to their roster this offseason. After all, the team was clearly not good enough since they were swept in the Western Conference Finals by the Denver Nuggets. Some of the important acquisitions that the Lakers have made are Jaxon Hayes from the New Orleans Pelicans and Christian Wood from the Dallas Mavericks.

The reason they are important is because both these NBA stars play the center position, just like Anthony Davis. Over the years he has grown to dislike playing at the center position due to all the physicality that the position entails. Recent reports have revealed that AD made it clear to the Lakers that he wanted more help at the center position.
They have undoubtedly listened to him and gotten two additional centers. That will allow Anthony Davis to play at the power forward position and face significantly less contact on a constant basis. Although we have seen players of his size like Giannis Antetokounmpo play the center position at times, Davis likely doesn’t want to do that anymore.

Since Wood or Hayes can now play the center position, Lakers fans should expect a breakout season from Anthony Davis. After all, that is the only way for the Los Angeles Lakers to emerge as championship contenders.
