Patrick Beverley has one of the toughest minds in the NBA and he never fails to entertain fans during a game. Having said that, he is someone many teams want to have around. Especially because he can break down opponents mentally. We’ve seen this side of him creep out ever so often, but mostly during the playoffs. But besides the trash-talking and competitiveness, the veteran has always been a great mentor.
He signed with the Philadelphia 76ers this off-season. Beverley hopes to help them achieve more than they’ve been able to in the past as well. “I think collectively, we can do something special. Obviously, you know, the goal was to always win a championship, but you got to start in the Eastern Conference Finals first. So I think that’s the mindset. I think that’s the goal. Obviously, ultimately, the championship,” he said, shortly after being acquired by the Sixers.
Philly is coming off an incredibly challenging off-season. Issues surrounding James Harden’s trade are looming around with the LA Clippers trying their best to lock in a deal. While this may impact the Sixers negatively, they’re hoping to see some upliftment from Patrick Beverley’s side. He’s always been a team player which was very evident during his tenure with the Clippers and Lakers in the past. Only time will tell how well he fits in with the team and what changes his presence brings to the court.
Patrick Beverley leaves fans intrigued with his preseason competitiveness
The Sixers recently took on the Boston Celtics during their preseason opener. This matchup had James Harden and Joel Embiid absent from the floor as per Nick Nurse’s request. Teams usually rest their superstars during the preseason and bring them in for the regular season. Patrick Beverley was present and very active on the court against Boston. During the third quarter of the game, Beverley hit Jaylen Brown with a spin move around the basket and scored.
The veteran also hit Brown with a “too small” celebration after scoring on him. Knowing who Beverley is, he gets competitive irrespective of the situation his team is in. So fans were very intrigued by what he did. One fan said, “Damn it’s just the preseason.” Another fan said, “$300 million and getting cooked by Pat Bev.”

Despite his efforts to lead them, the Sixers fell to the Celtics 106-114. Patrick Beverley was the fourth-best scorer on the team for the night as he recorded 12 points. Tyrese Maxey led the team with 24 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. The Celtics’ Payton Pritchard stood out amongst the lot with 26 points (game-high). And despite being injured during the off-season, Kristaps Porzingis has 17 points in the game. Brown scored 19 points while Jayson Tatum recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds.
