The Los Angeles Lakes have made quite a few moves so far this NBA offseason. As fans will be aware, the team managed to make it all the way to the Western Conference Finals last season despite finishing the season as a 7th seed. Although LeBron James and Anthony Davis played well, their injuries and health were always a factor against them.
Nonetheless, the Lakers franchise knows that retaining LeBron James and Anthony Davis ensures their chances to compete for a championship in the near future. Since Davis was up for a new contract, he agreed to an impressive 3-year contract worth $186 million.
Although the Lakers have locked Davis in, they are still on the lookout for another player who can play the center position. This would be quite prudent considering AD’s injury history. Recent reports indicate that Christian Wood is a prospect that the Los Angeles Lakers are interested in. Let us take a closer look and see how he would potentially fit in with the Lakers.
Can Christian Wood help the Los Angeles Lakers win an NBA championship?
Fans will remember that Christian Wood was a part of the Dallas Mavericks last season. Despite averaging 16.6 points and 7.3 rebounds, Wood was not signed on by the Mavs and is now a free agent. He is certainly quite a talented center and can shoot the ball well for someone of his size.
The Lakers have already acquired Taurean Prince, Cam Reddish, and Gabe Vincent. While adding Wood to their roster certainly wouldn’t hurt their chances of contending, one should wonder if having three centers, including Jaxon Hayes and Anthony Davis, is what the Lakers need at this point in time.
They just got Jaxson Hayes lol why do they need C Wood?

In any case, reports continue to emerge that the Lakers are showing interest in Christian Wood. However, they already have quite a full roster and will likely not be able to offer him a lot of money. Therefore, it fell upon Wood to decide. He can either take a pay cut and join the team. Or hope for a better deal in the free agency market.
At the end of the day, fans shouldn’t forget that Christian Wood is also quite injury prone. They shouldn’t rush into making too many moves. We look forward to seeing which roster the NBA center will find himself in next season.
