While four of James’ rare cards sold for over a million, one of them does stand out to be pretty expensive out of all. The craze for collecting trading cards hasn’t been curbed yet, as collectors are willing to pay millions for such rarity.

Michael Jordan’s trading cards have been on the list for some of the most expensive cards ever sold in NBA history. Though none of them managed to be as expensive as LeBron James’ rookie patch card.
LeBron James has 4 of his signature cards sold for over $1 million
James’ 2004-05 Upper Deck Ultimate Signature was sold for over $1.2 million. The card included a jersey patch that he wore in his sophomore year in the league. Though James’ rookie patch autograph card is ranked as the second most expensive card sold in NBA history for $5.2 million. The rookie patch card was sold in 2021 by an anonymous buyer. This card ranks behind Stephen Curry’s rookie Logoman autograph which was sold for $5.9 million, the most costly NBA trading card. However, James’ rookie patch card and his triple Logoman card are ranked among the top five most expensive cards.

These cards will hold massive value when sold next, as the price only increases. Another one of James’ cards in the top 10 list included Kobe and MJ as well, which sold for over $1.6 million. One of LeBron‘s cards that sold for $900K was the 2003-04 Topps Chrome Lebron James Gold Refractor. Collectors are ready to spend well over a million for these rare cards, as we can expect James’ rookie card to resell for a higher price.

Players like Luka Doncic, Stephen Curry, MJ, Kobe Bryant, and Giannis Antetokoumpo have their cards sold for a fortune. Having a unique souvenir of a player is definitely a collectible to have as a fan. Though looking at the trend, we can expect to see NBA cards to be sold for over $10 million. These fine collectibles include only the best players to have ever played. Though it will be interesting to see James’ cards resell in the near future.
