Kevin Durant is one of the greatest offensive scorers in this generation. He helped the Golden State Warriors win back-to-back NBA championships in 2017 and 2018. By doing so he won the first two and potentially only 2 titles in his career. The Warriors’ recent success throws shade at the value of what Durant brought to the table during his time there.
The Former GSW star has a legacy that is much debated and criticized. KD was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He then moved to the Golden State Warriors after spending 10 years in OKC. Finally, he left the Warriors after 3 years, to go to the Brooklyn Nets. One must wonder what kind of legacy he has built for himself with these three franchises.
Kevin Durant has a lot to prove after GSW picks up the NBA title in his absence
Former NBA player Charles Barkley commented that KD is nothing more than a bus rider and is certainly not capable of driving “The Bus“. Here he is referring to Durant’s nature of being unable to lead and hopping onto a “Bus” that is already moving.
Recent basketball fans will not know that Kevin Durant spent 10 long years with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He managed to make the NBA Finals just once, and that was to lose to LeBron James and the Miami Heat in 2012. Therefore, KD jumped at the chance to join the Warriors after the 2016 NBA Finals.
This move was heavily criticized, considering that the Warriors were already conference favorites to make the NBA Finals. Moreover, they had just come off a supremely dominant 73-9 win regular season. Joining this team was considered a “soft” move by an NBA superstar and an “easy way” to win an NBA title.
An NBA player is an elite athlete who looks to perform at the highest level. All NBA greats look beyond that to create a better legacy for themselves. This is exactly what Durant decided to do after his contract with the Warriors came to an end. He chose to leave in the 2019 offseason and move to the Brooklyn Nets.
How does it feel to not be loved by any of the fans of the team you won back to back titles with all because you couldn’t help yourself from throwing shade at everyone in the organization whenever the opportunity arose? https://t.co/YwQSAeLhm1

KD and Kyrie have had two disappointing postseasons in their time as teammates together. Thankfully for Irving, he was in the Cavs before LeBron got there and can never be accused of “bus riding“.
