Well, it goes without saying that Kelsey Plum will earn a spot amongst the greatest WNBA players ever. Since being drafted in 2017, she has already become a 2x WNBA Champion. Not only that, but she also earned herself two All-Star Game selections and a Sixth Person of the Year Award. Needless to say, Plum’s journey has only just begun. Before being selected as the No.1 overall pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft, Plum played for the University of Washington for four whole seasons. Her journey through college was amazing from start to finish and by the end of it, she was dubbed as one of the greatest college women’s basketball players ever.
Offensively, she was an absolute beast averaging 20.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. Plum also put up one steal per game while shooting 39.3% from the field, 36.7% from deep, and 84.6% from the line. During her sophomore year, Plum’s stats increased as she averaged 22.6 points. 3.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game on 43.2 FG%.
It was during her junior year that things started to change drastically. It was almost like a fire ignited within Kelsey Plum. Her stats shot up to 25.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. This was the kickstart to her most dominant season overall.

Kelsey Plum was a complete stunner during the 2016-17 season and the Huskies also benefitted a lot from her emergence. Out of the blue, Plum became a lethal scorer of the ball averaging 31.7 points per game when he was a senior. Additionally, she shot 52.9% from the field, 42.8% from deep, and 88.7% from the line. Plum recorded a college career high in rebounds and assists averaging 5.1 and 4.8 respectively.
That season, the Las Vegas Aces player broke the NCAA’s single-season scoring record with 1,109 points. And during an impressive matchup against Utah, she scored 57 points to cross Jackie Stiles as the all-time NCAA women’s basketball scoring leader. Plum recorded a total of 3,527 points in four seasons. This record was nearly broken by Kelsey Mitchell in 2018.

During her time in college, Kelsey Plum had one deep NCAA Tournament run during her junior year. She led the Huskies to the NCAA Final Four but got knocked out by the Syracuse Orange team. Plum helped the Huskies reach the Final Four for the first time in the history of the program. Unfortunately, her efforts never resulted in an NCAA title run.
Plum won multiple awards in 2017, which was a historic run made by the WNBA superstar. She was honored with a Dawn Stanley Award, the Nancy Leiberman Award, the Wade Trophy, the John R. Wooden Award, and the Honda Sports Award. Additionally, she was named AP, Naismith, and USBWA Player of the Year in 2017.
The All-American managed to become the PAC-12 all-time single-season scoring leader as well as a conference record holder for free throws made in a single season and career. She also holds the record for most points scored in a single game in the PAC-12 conference.
