Even the great Shaquille O’Neal was unable to help his son do something that most people wouldn’t find very difficult. As most of us might be aware, Shaq is an NBA legend and has managed to find incredible success playing in the league.
While the ordinary citizens of the country look up to professional athletes, merely playing basketball does not require a lot of real word intelligence. Therefore, even Shaq was stunted and helpless when he realized he was unable to help his son fill out a resumé. Let us take a closer look at the situation and what O’Neal had to say about his unexpected challenge.
Shaquille O’Neal felt embarrassed when he couldn’t fill a resumé
Perhaps this should be expected considering that O’Neal is a fully grown adult and a responsible member of society. To the fans who do not know, a resumé is a form that a job applicant presents when applying for a position. It usually contains their accumulated skills and experience so far.
Therefore, any person who has sought employment in traditional workplace avenues would know how to write one. However, Shaq dedicated his career to the NBA and was never really interested in studies or other jobs. He only knew how to devastate opponents on the court.

One can only imagine how he felt upon realizing that he couldn’t help his own son out with making his own resumé. He shared in an interview with Sunrise News how this incident made him feel.
“I am grateful, because I realize that the position I am in, in life, is a lucky position. I never had a real job in my life…When I was trying to help my son fill out a resume, I had to call somebody…I couldn’t do it…I was embarrassed.”

O’Neal went on to emphasize how his inexperience also translated to other domains of his life, “The reason why I did that is because I always like to be in charge, but I let other people speak for me, my agents … they think I’m just this dumb jock who has no inclination of what business is. It would just drive me crazy.”
Shaq got his MBA after a lot of hard work in order to make himself experienced in the world of business. He was clearly never taught how to apply for jobs during his education.
