Goran Dragic is a 6ft 3-inch point guard from Slovenia. He is also known as the Dragon. Goran played the 2020-21 season with the Miami Heat. He finished the season with 16 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. Dragic was a part of the sign-and-trade deal between Miami and Toronto. Kyle Lowry decided o bid farewell to Canada after nine historic seasons. Dragic however has already put himself in the bad books of the Raptors fans.
What landed Goran Dragic in deep waters?
In an interview with Slovenian reporters, Goran Dragic spoke about his future in the NBA. When asked about how Toronto would fit in his life, Dragic had some hard words for a rather loving city.
Toronto is not my preferred destination. I have higher ambitions

This statement obviously was taken badly by Raptors fans. Dragic however explained that the translation was wrong and the statement was taken out of context. Dragic meant that when it came to Miami and Toronto, he’d prefer Miami because his family is there.
I was in the center of the city and the journalists were there and I was asked about Toronto and it was basically taken out of context, I told them that I had spent seven years in Miami and that would be the preferred destination for me because my family is there and everything, not Toronto
The Dragon apologizes to Toronto and its fans
The statement about having higher ambitions did not sit well. Raptors fans on Twitter were already talking about how Dragic won’t be a fit in Toronto. The dragon however decided to take the time to apologize to the fans and explain his side of things.
My message basically, to all Toronto fans, is I would like to apologize,It didn’t come out the right way. I know they love their team, and they should be proud, it is one of the best organizations in the NBA. They’ve already won a championship and I didn’t, so what I said, it really was not appropriate. I’ve always been professional. You can ask a bunch of people. Everywhere I’ve played, wherever I’m going to play, I’m going to be professional and do my job,I love basketball, I love to play and I’m going to give 100% wherever I play. Right now I’m with Toronto and that’s my main thing to think about
I just spoke with former Miami Heat and (for now) Toronto Raptors guard Goran Dragic about his comments on Slovenian TV. He is one of the most respected vets in the NBA, and clearly feels terribly about how things have come across. Story coming soon for @Sportsnet: pic.twitter.com/gNa0u5gR31

Goran Dragic may have apologized but it is still unclear how the fans will react to this. Toronto is a city that takes pride in its sporting teams. The Toronto Raptors are like a prized jewel in the city. Some rumors have already begun going around about how Goran will be traded off as soon as the season begins. The rumors suggest that the deal will go on between the Clippers and the Raptors. The North will look to take Terence Mann while the Clippers will take the Dragon.
