The star of UConn has made his NBA career official. Jordan Hawkins recently declared for the 2023 NBA Draft and debates about his projections have been increasing every second. However, Hawkins is an extremely talented and reliable recruit. He surprised the entire world by helping the UConn Huskies pull through March Madness and ultimately won the title for them as well. His pursuit of greatness has been incredible so far.

Jordan Hawkins is currently projected to be the No.15 overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. This year, the competition ahead of him consists of players from all over the world. Most of these players have already received big-time global-level recognition. But the chances of him being drafted later than the fifteenth pick are quite high.
If he gets drafted at No.15, he might end up on the Atlanta Hawks besides Trae Young. The Hawks have a pretty good core roster with Dejounte Murray, Trae Young, and Clint Capela. But they certainly need a little more help at both ends of the floor. Jordan is exactly the type of player they need, someone with versatility.
If Jordan Hawkins gets selected later than that, either the New Orleans Pelicans or Los Angeles Lakers will take him. For the Pelicans, he would be a great addition to Zion Williamson and CJ McCollum. With the entire roster healthy, they could potentially become title contenders next season. The Lakers would be the ideal spot as LeBron James would be a mentor for him. They also need someone versatile that shoots the three-ball and plays defense.
Jordan Hawkins praises UConn’s head coach Dan Hurley for making his dreams come true
Jordan Hawkins declared for the draft on live television along with Malika Andrews on ESPN’s NBA Today. While discussing his plans for the future, he became emotional thinking about the success he has experienced over the last few weeks. Hawkins claimed that entering the NBA would be an absolute blessing for him and his family, especially his father. “Hearing my name called on draft night will be a blessing. I worked so hard for this, me and my dad, we’ve been through so much,” he said.

He continued, “When I first stepped on campus in Storrs, I was a little kid, just 160 pounds. I didn’t know the college game. Coach Hurley threw me into the fire. He guided me through it. It means the world for me having him, having this opportunity.” Dan Hurley is the Head Coach of UConn’s basketball team. He did an amazing job coaching the team and brought up prospects like Jordan and his teammates Adama Sanogo and Andre Jackson Jr.
