WWE star Zelina Vega has been married to veteran professional wrestler Malakai Black for a number of years now. The 32-year-old female star currently performs on SmackDown, whereas her husband is an active performer on All Elite Wrestling.
With both of them in different companies, it’s obviously very difficult for them to spend some quality time together. Due to being unable to take proper care of their love life, the LWO member wishes for something special from her husband. But Tony Khan won’t really like her desires.
The 5-foot-1 female star wants her husband to make a return to the Stamford-based promotion, and it’s surely something the AEW CEO won’t be happy about. The 2021 Queen’s Crown winner revealed this during an interview with Gorilla Position in June 2023.
During the conversation, Vega was asked about potentially reuniting with black in the Triple H-led promotion. In response, she said, “It’s not a conversation that happens, but I think it’s something that, any time I can spend extra with my husband, it always makes me a happier person.” (Via: WrestleTalk)
Sharing further about what Black’s return would mean to her, Zelina revealed that it would help her to spend extra time with her husband. But as Black is a part of the AEW Trio House of Black, a WWE return seems difficult to occur. But will we even get to see them sharing the screen? Only the future knows.
When did Zelina Vega and Malakai Black first meet?
It’s evident that what the future holds for them is unknown, but their journey till now has been really interesting. Even though both Zelina and Malakai were pro wrestlers, they surprisingly never met before joining WWE’s developmental territory, NXT. The yellow brand was the place they met for the first time.
Even though they had some social media interaction before that, their first in-person interaction was on NXT only. The LWO member joined the Stamford-based promotion in 2016, and Black joined the company in 2017. During her time at the yellow brand, the female star worked as the manager of Andrade Cien Almas.
Due to Zelina’s pairing with Andrade, she was even involved in a feud with her real-life partner Malakai. In the rivalry, she tried to help her client in his matches against the Dutch pro wrestler. Despite being on-screen rivals, the love between the couple only blossomed during their years in the Stamford-based promotion.

The Puerto Rican-descent superstar reportedly started dating Malakai Black in 2017, and their relationship was a serious one. The couple eventually tied the knot in late 2018. Their private wedding was attended only by their close friends and family members.
At the time of their wedding, the couple was a member of the WWE roster, but both of them were let go one-on-one. Zelina was fired from the company back in November 2020, but after 8 months of absence, she returned to the Triple H-led promotion in July 2021.
On the other hand, Black was released in early 2021, but he didn’t wait much and joined the Jacksonville-based promotion. It turned out to be a great decision by the Dutch pro wrestler, as he’s been really successful ever since joining AEW.
With Zelina getting the opportunity to perform in a title match earlier this year, it doesn’t seem like she’s leaving WWE anytime soon. Moreover, Black is a vital member of the AEW roster, so he’ll also probably continue to perform there. Thus, it remains to be seen who among them will make the shift, so that they can be on the same pro wrestling promotion.
