Trish Stratus, originally known as Patricia Anne Stratigeas, has been one of the most influential women in the pro wrestling industry. She played a big part in her career in the Ruthless Aggression Era of WWE. She is a seven-time Women’s Champion and has other titles to her name.
In 2006, Trish Stratus decided to retire from the Stamford-based promotion and discontinued her profession as a full-time wrestler. Her decision to retire was backed by several personal reasons. While speaking on the Wilde On Podcast, she talked about her future when her contract was about to end.
She said, “I had done to that point, which was kind of cool because we don’t really do these fulfillment checks……what else did I want to accomplish? What else can I accomplish? I thought I’ve literally worked with every female that’s available on the roster and been so lucky to have these fantastic, robust feuds with all these women”.
The 48-year-old superstar explained her accomplishments in WWE and how she has done it all. Other than that, she also cited her mother’s health condition as one of the reasons. Her mother was suffering from Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and she wanted to be with her. She further added, “It was just the universe saying, ‘This is your time to talk away and focus on family again’”. Trish explained that she had all the reasons to retire in 2006.
Will Trish Stratus make a comeback to WWE?
In recent years, Trish Stratus has made returns to some segments of WWE. She competed in the Women’s Royal Rumble in 2018 and shocked everyone by entering at number 30. Since Trish’s retirement, she has made 22 returns in the Triple-H-led promotion as a part-timer.
Stratus, who is also a Hall of Famer, has teased her comeback a lot in 2023. She competed in WrestleMania 39 in a six-woman tag team match along with Lita and Becky Lynch to defeat the Damage CTRL. After which, she had a feud with Lynch that ended at WWE Payback when she was defeated by ‘The Man’ in a steel cage match.

During Q&A sessions at Big Texas Comic Con Trish discussed her potential comeback and said, “I’ve been asked by people here, ‘Are you coming back? Do you want to do another run?’ But this is the thing, I’m like… the boxes it has to check. One is the creative. What is the creative?”
She further added, “What am I going to come back and do? Is it going to check these boxes? So, I always turn it back to people and go, ‘I might go back but who should I face?’ Tell me, I wanna know.” Stratus did not give a very definitive answer about making a full-time comeback at WWE.
When asked if she would be seen in any other promotions, she replied, “Probably not”. Trish has been a legendary competitor in the ring. With her recent returns to the Stamford-based promotion, she is making a statement that she is not done yet.
