The stage is set as #2 welterweight contender Gilbert Burns takes on rising star Khamzat Chimaev on the main card of UFC 273. Leading up to this blockbuster fight, both Gilbert and Chimaev are coming on the back of impressive performances against the likes of Stephen Thompson and Li Jing Liang.
The Brazilian dominated the Wonderboy on the ground from start to finish to grab an emphatic unanimous decision win. Meanwhile, The Borz extended his undefeated streak as he submitted The Chinese fighter in a mind-boggling fashion.
It is needless to say that there are a lot of eyeballs surrounding this matchup, as Chimaev has a lot of hype around him after his incredible start in the UFC. Consequently, this fight delivered on the hype and was just as advertised as both these welterweight stalwarts engaged in a wild three-round war. But it was Khamzat who came out on top as the judges scored this fight 28-29, 28-29, 28-29 and declared him the winner via unanimous decision.
Khamzat Chimaev maintains his undefeated streak after his win over Gilbert Burns at UFC 273
Speaking about this mega clash, Khamzat Chimaev proved that he belonged at the top as he overcame many adversities against Gilbert Burns and put up a violent display to extend his undefeated streak to 11 wins at UFC 273. From the get-go, Chimaev just pushed forward and started the fight strongly.
He landed some big shots and dropped Durinho with a strong right jab in the first round of the fight. Thereafter The Borz landed a few big elbows in the top position and cut open Burns. However, the Brazilian fighter made an emphatic comeback in the second round as he stunned Chimaev with some powerful strikes on several occasions.
But the turning point in the fight came in the final moments of the second round as Burns almost finished the fight after dropping Khamzat with a big right hand. Although Chimaev managed to survive and took the fight to the final round.

In the third round, Chimaev showed no signs of stopping as he significantly outstriked Burns who seemed tired and finished the fight strong. It is needless to say that this was Khamzat’s toughest UFC fight of his career as Burns tested him on numerous occasions throughout the three rounds.
With this win over Gilbert Burns, Chimaev has made a statement and it would be interesting to see who he faces next.
