Aston Martin is currently in their 3rd year back in Formula 1 as a constructor. Last season, it was announced that Cognizant would become a title sponsor for Aston Martin. However, the tech giant has announced that they will step down as title partners after just 1 season with the team.
Aston Martin has had a lot of ups and downs since entering the sport as a constructor. In the initial 2 seasons, they were left fighting for points in every race. However, things seemed to have turned around for them this season.
When the 2023 Formula 1 season started, Fernando Alonso was seen fighting for podium finishes alongside Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari. This performance saw them take 2nd place in the WCC. However, the team has fallen behind on development in the second half of the season.

This has allowed Mercedes and Ferrari to take the position from Aston Martin in the WCC. Even McLaren are closing in behind them. Aston Martin is only 11 points ahead of McLaren at the moment. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have been fighting for podiums on a consistent basis in the second half of the season.
Now with Cognizant stepping down as title partners, they will have limited resources to fund their developments going forward. As of now, they are not expected to replace Cognizant as they already have Aramco as their title partner. This year, the team was called Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team. Next year, it will most likely be called the Aston Martin Aramco F1 team.
How long will Lance Stroll remain in Aston Martin?
While Fernando Alonso has been fighting for podiums, his teammate, Lance Stroll has been struggling to qualify out of the first qualifying session. Before his last race at Qatar, he was knocked out in the first session of qualifying and the sprint shootout. After getting out of his car, he shoved his trainer who was trying to calm him down after qualifying.
Following this incident, there have been many reports that Lanco Stroll could be on his way out of the team. A few weeks earlier, it was announced that Lance would drive for the team in 2024. This was followed by a statement from Mike Krack, the team principal saying that the team does not believe that there is a big performance gap between Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso. However, the results speak differently.

The Canadian has been in the sport since the 2017 Formula 1 season. He has driven alongside Felipe Massa, Sergei Sirotkin, Sergio Perez, Sebastian Vettel, and Fernando Alonso. He has only outscored his teammate over the course of a season once in his career. This happened during the 2018 season where his teammate was Sergei Sirotkin.
Lance Stroll’s father, Lawrence Stroll has funded all the teams he has driven for. In 2019, he became the major shareholder of the Force India Formula 1 team and renamed it Racing Point the following year. In 2021, Lawrence Stroll completely rebranded the team to the Aston Martin F1 team. Fans believe that his father is the reason Lance Stroll is still in Formula 1. However, his father may not be able to defend him for long as his performance deficit is becoming more and more visible with time.
